KOHAT, Nov 27: The district council has sanctioned Rs5.6 million for various development schemes in 14 out of 27 union councils.

The session of the district council, which was presided over by District Naib-Nazim Haji Sardar Khan, approved the schemes for the 14 union councils to be undertaken under the 2002-2003 plan.

The District Nazim, Malik Asad, who was also present on the occasion sanctioned Rs400,000 for the installation of hand pumps in the area where potable water shortage was at its peak.

The UCs which would get the funds were Urban-1 Kohat, Urban 5, Urban 4, Shahpur, Jarma, Toghbala, Lachi rural, Lachi Urban, Surgul, Nusrat Khel, Ustarzai, Dhodha, Bahdarkot and Shakardarra Urban.

The district Nazim taking strict notice of the misuse of rollers and other machinery of the tehsil municipal administration asked the concerned authorities to charge flat rates from the users.
