MIRPURKHAS, Nov 27: Former federal minister and PPP leader, Nawab Mohammad Yousuf Talpur has said those who administered oath to president or any governor of the provinces under 1973 Constitution remained loyal to the PCO as long as they don’t take oath under the same Constitution of 1973.

Commenting on the oath-taking ceremonies of Gen Pervez Musharraf as president and the four governors under 1973 Constitution, the PPP leader said judges who are under oath to the PCO should not have administered oath to anybody else under 1973 Constitution specially when they have sworn their allegiance to the PCO, he said in a statement on Wednesday.

He asserted that the delay in holding oath of the judges of the superior courts itself proved that Gen Pervez Musharraf planned to play game with the judiciary and had many other targets which he wanted to accomplish through judiciary. Since many of the judges would not be called for fresh oath under the 1973 Constitution, the delay in their oath-taking under the original Constitution was being played as a move to achieve certain objectives by Gen Pervez Musharraf.

He said the way the nation was being deceived through the judicial terms and partial restoration of Constitution spoke about the loyalty of the regime towards Pakistan’s only unanimous Constitution. He said one was surprised that higher courts were still working under the PCO and the holders of higher judicial offices had still not restored their status that stood before Oct 12, 1999 but the same were administering oath to president who simultaneously remained a grade 22 employee of the government.
