HYDERABAD, Nov 27: The supremacy of the parliament should be restored and all nationalities should be bestowed rights in accordance with the 1940 resolution.
This was stated by the chairman of the Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party, Dr Qadir Magsi, while speaking at an Iftar party at the Shah Latif Park on Tuesday.
He said that justice and a true democratic system would remain just a dream unless these measures were taken.
He said that the so-called elected government was a continuation of the dictatorship and the system had not changed, only faces have changed.
This Iftar party was arranged by the Marvi Town Welfare Association.
He said that the oppressed nations should have no delusions about the new government as it would not support the nationalist parties.
Dr Magsi, who is also the president of the PONAM’s Sindh chapter, said that his party had reservations about the elections, which had proven to be 100 per cent correct.
He said that the parliament had been rendered powerless, and the establishment had ensured the success of the king’s party to continue its policies.
Terming the present government a product of horse trading, he questioned the integrity of such a government, which had sold its conscience, to ameliorate the sufferings of the people.
Describing the establishment as the mother of all evils, he stressed on the need to eliminate its role in the national politics.
He said his party was determined to restore the sovereignty of the Sindhi people over Sindh, ensure that all natural resources of the province were spent on Sindh and that 3.5 million outsiders, including Afghan refugees, were expelled from the province.
He said these objectives could only be achieved if all the people of Sindh joined the struggle.
GSTA: A group of secondary teachers staged a protest demonstration outside the press club here on Wednesday against the alleged corrupt practices in the Government Secondary Teachers Association (GSTA) election.
They raised slogans against former GSTA president Ghulam Mustafa Sohu and election committee chairman Syed Ali Nawaz Shah.
Speaking at the rally, their representatives, Allah Rakhio Khaskheli, Ghulam Ali Lashari, Raza Brohi and others, rejected the election results and said they would hold fresh election under the chairmanship of Abdul Wahid Ghangro.
Earlier, the teachers held a meeting and appointed Allah Rakhio Khaskheli as the convener of the association.
They appealed to secondary teachers of Sindh to cooperate with Khaskheli and Ghangro.
SPLA: The Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association, at a meeting held here on Wednesday, expressed concern over the dismissal of seven college teachers of Punjab.
The meeting termed the action of the Punjab governor undemocratic and appealed to the president, prime minister and the federal minister for education to intervene in the matter and reinstate the teachers.
It warned that 7,000 college teachers of Sindh would launch a protest movement if the teachers were not reinstated.
SPLA general secretary Prof Liaquat Aziz presided over the meeting.
Aziz has also sent a fax message to the president, prime minister and federal minister for education to settle the matter in the interest of the peaceful academic atmosphere of the country.
The dismissed teachers were office-bearers of the Punjab Professors and Lecturers Association and members of the joint action committee.
