KARACHI: The Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) on Wednesday issued an international gallop tender for import of urea to be opened on Thursday (Jan 19).

The bids have been invited from the pre-qualified foreign suppliers for supply of urea in bulk.

Urea to be supplied would be strictly in accordance with the standards and specifications prescribed by Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority and import policy order presently in force, according to terms and conditions of the tender.

Bids for less than 50,000 tons would not be accepted and total quantity of urea must reach the designated port in the country in accordance with the shipment schedule given in the tender document.

In another development, the corporation in response to its international gallop tender notice floated on Dec 28, 2011, awarded import contract for a quantity of 50,000 tons at $417.50 per ton C&F to the lowest bidder M/s Trasfert FZCO, Dubai.

In all, 14 bidders participated in the tender out of these 11 bids were found responsive in terms of prescribed evaluation criteria.

The prices quoted in the tender ranged from $417.50 to $460 per tone (C&F).

The bids of Trasfert FZCO (Dubai) for supply of 50,000 tons urea at $417.50 per ton was found the lowest and in conformity to the required technical specifications.

However, to complete the procurement of total targeted quantity of 300,000 tons urea by the TCP, the rest of the bidders have been asked to match the lowest bid price.
