ISLAMABAD, Jan 8: Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Sunday claimed that the era of both Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) was near its end and a new ‘golden era’ was just around the corner.

Speaking at the launching ceremony of the Urdu version of his autobiography Me and My Pakistan at a local hotel, Mr Khan said the present rulers were not only ignorant about the problems of the masses but also looked at them with contempt.

He said former military dictator Pervez Musharraf had put Pakistan’s security at stake on one telephone call due to his inner fear while Nelson Mandela spent 27 years of his life in prison and refused to compromise on principles.

He said had earning huge wealth been his objective he would not have wasted numerous chances coming his way but instead he never compromised on the principles he set for himself 15 years back.

The PTI chief said the masses were standing up to replace the rulers with those holding the banner of justice as they were fed up with the egoist and selfish politicians.

He said the government raised false alarms of ‘democracy is danger’ whenever the Supreme Court put hands on big fish.

Mr Khan added: “The nation has to break the shackles of fear to achieve true independence and I am on a mission to get this fear out of my nation.”

He said his aim to write the book was to clear ambiguity from the minds of the youth “as a result of which some link me with the Jewish lobby and others call me Taliban Khan because religion and culture has been intermixed.”

He said the West was dragging us away from our religion and culture and; therefore, he has mentioned in his book how the western culture and Pakistani atmosphere affected his thoughts.

Prof Ahmed Rafiq Akhtar presided over the function.
