Edhi Foundation operates one of the world's largest ambulance service and runs old people's homes, segregated orphanages, clinics, women shelters, animal shelters and rehabilitation's for drug addicts and mentally ill people at no cost.

It is run by a philanthropist, Abdul Sattar Edhi along with his wife Bilquis Edhi.

This gallery comprises a visit paid to the Edhi orphanage in Karachi for male children and adolescents; where they are provided with education and accommodation.

Some of them are adopted by foster parents; others remain in hope of the same.  - Photos and text by Shameen Khan | Dawn.com
