KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement will submit the '20th Constitution amendment bill' in parliament on Monday for the creation of Hazara and South Punjab provinces, said MQM leader Dr Farooq Sattar on Sunday.
He was speaking to a large number of people belonging to the Hazarewal, Seraiki and other communities at the MQM headquarters.
Carrying MQM flags and portraits of Altaf Hussain, shouting slogans in favour of the party and dancing to the tunes of cultural songs, the members of the communities reached 'Nine Zero' in the form of rallies to thank the MQM for deciding to submit a resolution in the National Assembly for creating Hazara and South Punjab provinces.
Dr Sattar said that on the instructions of Mr Hussain the MQM became the first party which had included in its manifesto the demand for creating more provinces in Punjab and making Hazara a new province.
He said the MQM would also submit resolutions in the National Assembly and the Senate for giving autonomy to the tribal areas with a view to ending the sense of alienation among the people and the party would introduce 21st Constitution amendment bill in parliament for the purpose.
Dr Sattar, who is also a federal minister, said that consultations were being held on the draft of the amendment bill.
He said that creation of one or more provinces in Punjab and the creation of Hazara province became unavoidable since it was necessary for political and economic solidarity of Pakistan.
