MIRPURKHAS, Dec 29: Former test cricketer and head of corporate social responsibility division of the National Bank of Pakistan, Iqbal Qasim, presented a cheque for Rs246,500 to the commissioner for repairing the free dialysis centre at the civil hospital.

The centre, which provides free dialysis to poor patients, suffered massive damage during heavy monsoon rains and stopped functioning.

Speaking at a ceremony held here on Wednesday, Mr Qasim said the NBP had also upgraded the emergency ward of the civil hospital and he expected the bank to approve more welfare projects for the rain-hit town.

The commissioner of Mirpurkhas received the cheque in his capacity as head of Anjuman Falah-e-Behbood Insaniyat, which runs the centre.—Correspondent
