Mutilated body found from Bara Kahu

RAWALPINDI, Nov 24: Police on Sunday found a mutilated body of a man believed to have been murdered and thrown in Bara Kahu.

According to the police, some villagers had informed them that a body was lying in the fields. The body was later shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital for postmortem. The police said the deceased had been identified as Mohammad Riaz, a resident of Azad Kashmir. The man seems to have been murdered about 10 days ago.

“It is yet to be established whether he had been shot dead or strangulated, because the body is mutilated,” the investigation officer said. The police said no complaint had been registered about Mohammad Riaz being missing. However, efforts are being made to trace the family of the deceased.

SHOT DEAD: One person was shot dead while another injured in two highway robberies near Taxila on Sunday.

According to the police, the robbers intercepted a car near Taxila in which Arshad and Saadullah were travelling. When Arshad tried to resist the robbers, they opened fire, killing him on the spot while injuring his friend Saadullah.

The driver of the other vehicle, Mohammad Ashiq, lodged a complaint with the police saying that he was heading for Taxila from Rawalpindi in his pickup when he saw some persons standing on the roadside, who signalled him to stop.

He said when he stopped his van, the robbers held him and another passenger named Ilyas at gunpoint. The robbers then snatched Rs11,600 from them.

ROBBERIES: Some robbers entered a house in Gulraiz Housing Scheme and looted cash and jewellery.

The airport police have registered a robbery case on the complaint of Arjumand Sajid and started investigation.

In another incident, five robbers entered a shop in Gunjmandi and looted Rs40,000.

Nadeem Abbasi, the proprietor of M. Shah Traders, told the police that five persons walked into his shop after Iftar on Sunday and pulled out their pistols. The culprits snatched Rs40,000 and escaped.

Two motorcycle riders snatched a purse, containing cash, from a woman in G-6/2 and escaped.
