SAHIWAL, Nov 24: PML-N acting president Makhdoom Javed Hashmi has said that the party will organize public meetings after Eid to mobilise the people of Pakistan for a referendum on the issue of Mian Nawaz Sharif’s return to the country.
Speaking at a big public meeting here on Sunday, Mr Hashmi said the PML-N had bagged only 19 seats due to adjustments with the PPP and MMA. Therefore, its popularity could not be assessed by the number of seats it had bagged.
He said the popularity of President Pervez Musharaf had declined due to the controversial Legal Framework Order. The PML-N participated in the elections to lay bare the plans of the military government.
He said the winning candidates of PML-N would confront the engineered success of PML-Q in the parliament besides working for restoration of the constitution in letter and spirit and curbing the price hike.
The caravan of Mr Hashmi included Khawaja Saad Rafiq, Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman and Yawar Zaman. They were welcomed by PML-N district president Malik Nadeem Kamran, secretary-general Ehsanul Haq Idrees, I. Z. A. Bhatti, Shaheed Ahmed Poswal and Tahir Hamid.
