KARACHI: Nomi Qamar reached the semi-final of the ninth Subh-e-Nau National Hard Court tennis championship at the CDGK Sports Complex tennis courts on Wednesday.

He defeated Vinod Das in men’s singles quarters in straight sets.

Third Seed Heera Ashiq also reserved his seat in the semi-final by overcoming Haris Iltifat.

Nomi will face Yasir Khan while Heera will lock horns with Aqeel Khan in the semi-finals.

Maheen Dada won her first match of the ladies singles against Wania Khan while Urooj Iltifat also managed to win her match against Neha Khan.

Talha Zubair reached the quarter-final of boys’ U-18 while Amanwal Anwar reached the semi-final of the same category.

The men’s singles semi-finals will be played on Thursday at 1pm.

Results: Men’s singles (quarter-finals): Nomi Qamar bt Vinod Das 6-2, 6-2; Heera Ashiq bt Haris Iltifat 6-2, 6-2.

Ladies singles (round robin): Maheen Dada bt Wania Khan 6-1, 6-1; Urooj Iftikhar bt Neha Khan 6-2, 6-2.

Boys’ U-18 (first round): Talha Zubair bt Owais Ahmed 6-2, 6-1.

Quarter-final: Amanwal Anwar bt Aqeel Shabbir 6-1, 6-3.

Mixed U-14 (first round): Ibrahim Iltifat bt Hania Naveed 6-3, 3-6, 6-3; Nazif Ahmed bt Ameen Shafi 6-1, 6-0; Dawar Rehan bt Munib Qadir 6-3, 6-0; Marib Malik bt Houd Azhar 6-1, 6-2.—Agencies
