LAYYAH, Dec 17: The PML-Q has formed a core committee to mobilie the masses and launch an advocacy campaign to pave the way for the creation of Seraiki province, state minister for defence production Bahadur Ahmad Khan Sehar says.
Talking to Dawn, he said the decision to form the committee was taken in a party meeting in Lahore on Saturday with defence production minister and PML-Q Punjab president Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi in the chair.
Mr. Sehar said the party’s central executive committee would meet in Islamabad within a couple of weeks that would consider tabling 20th Constitutional Amendment Bill to get the procedure for creating new provinces altered.
Beside him, he said, Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar, Sardar Maqsood Ahmad Khan Laghari, Hamid Yar Hiraj, Tariq Bashir Cheema, Sardar Nasrullah Khan Dareshak, former zila nazims of Bahawalnagar and Mianwali were other members on the committee.
We would demand bringing about a constitutional amendment before March 2012 and if the PPP did not accept our demand, we would quit the coalition government, he said.
We had inked an agreement with the PPP while joining the federal government that the coalition government would establish a Seraiki province, he added.
