KARACHI, Nov 22: The Veterinary Department of City Government has confiscated about 1,446 kgs of meat that had been supplied from illegal slaughter houses.

The DO of Veterinary Services, Dr Zafar Zaidi, conducted raids on illegal slaughter houses in Orangi, Liaquatabad, North Nazimabad, North Karachi, Nazimabad, Soldier Bazaar and parts of Sadar town and confiscated the meat.

The operators of certain slaughter houses had earlier been warned against their illegal trade. They were asked to stop their business or face action. Officials of the Veterinary Services had also been given strict instructions to ensure closure of the illegal slaughter houses throughout the city.

The confiscated meat has been donated to the Karachi Zoo and Edhi Foundation. — PPI
