LAHORE, Dec 12: Five service centres have been made operational in various districts for the computerisation of the land record.

According to a spokesman for the Board of Revenue, the centres have been established each in Lahore City, Kasur, Hafizabad, Pindi Bhattian and Lodhran tehsils under a project of Land Records Management and Information System (LRMIS) initiated by the Punjab government.

He said the right holders were being introduced with the project through community meetings. The process of validating the records was being carried out by providing the copies of computerised record to the right holders in the villages.

Copies of computerised records were also distributed free of cost at Sarhali Kallan and Badian villages in Kasur district on Nov 22 and 24, respectively and at Kot Hassan village of Hafizabad district on Nov 30 for the convenience of right holders.

The spokesman said the right holders appreciated this revolutionary programme of public interest initiated by the government and expected that the project would mitigate the sufferings of the general public by eliminating the ‘patwari culture’ and would reduce the chances of fraud and corruption.
