QUETTA, Dec 12: The Balochistan Assembly unanimously adopted on Monday a resolution condemning the Nato air strikes on Pakistani border posts and urged the federal government to place a permanent ban on Nato containers' routes to Afghanistan. Those who took part in the debate on the resolution asked the government to make US forces vacate the remaining airbases in the country.

Speaker Muhammad Aslam Bhootani presided over the session during which senior minister Maulana Muhammad Wasay tabled the joint resolution.

Ministers Zamarak Khan Piralizai, Ali Madad Jhattak, Abdul Khaliq Bashardost, Abdur Rehman Mengal, Jan Ali Changezi, Jye Parkash, Zahoor Buledi and Mir Habibur Rehman Muhammadhasni spoke on the resolution.

They appreciated the government's bold decision to get the Shamsi airbase, which was being used by the US forces for years, vacated and block the Nato trucks to Afghanistan.

They said the government had acted in accordance with the aspirations of the nation.

They called upon the government to revisit its foreign policy to extricate itself from the war on terror and formulate a policy that reflected the wishes of people.

They said that the nation and security forces would never tolerate any attack on the country's sovereignty and foreign interference in the internal affairs of the country.

The house prayed for an early recovery of President Asif Ali Zardari's health.

The session was adjourned till Thursday.
