MANSEHRA, Dec 5: With the people of Baffa and adjoining localities in Mansehra district continuing to protest the proposed relocation of the army’s stables to their area from Abbottabad, Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) lawmakers on Monday announced to raise the issue in the provincial and national assemblies for relief.
A large number of protestors from Baffa, Shinkiary, Inyatabad, Tarangree Sabir Shah and Tanda union councils staged a rally outside the town hall against the stable relocation plan.
JUI-F MNA Laiq Mohammad Khan, MPA Mufti Kifayatullah and former senator Hidayatullah Shah told the rally that they wouldn’t let the district administration give the Baffa agricultural land to the army for setting up stables.
They said implementing the plan meant rendering thousands of local farmers out of work, adding that the issue would be taken to the assemblies for intervention. —Correspondent
