KARACHI: A determined Pakistan side held Maldives to a 0-0 draw in their second match of the SAFF (South Asian Football Federation) Championship at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi, India.
Pakistan’s Jadeed Khan headed in Adnan Ahmed’s cross but it was not allowed and Maldives also squandered a couple of good chances to finish the game goalless.
Maldives were constantly threatening throughout the game but Pakistan put up a sturdy performance to keep another clean sheet in the tournament and managed to grab a point.
Having previously recorded one point through a goalless draw against Bangladesh, Pakistan now need a win in their next match to secure a semifinal berth.
Maldives are also in a similar situation with two points from two drawn matches and need a win to proceed to the next stage of the tournament.
Pakistan’s next match is against Nepal on December 6, 2011.
