KARACHI, Nov 30: A man committed self-immolation outside his in-laws' house in Baloch Colony after his estranged wife refused to return to his house on Wednesday, police said.

They said that the man, Zafar Iqbal, visited his in-laws' house in Manzoor Colony Sector D to sort out issues with his wife and take her back to his house as a few days back she had come to her parents' home after having a serious altercation with her husband.

The police said that apparently the victim's wife refused to go along with him and in an act of desperation Mr Iqbal poured petrol on himself outside the house and set himself ablaze. He was rushed to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center where doctors declared him dead.

The police said that the victim's family took away the body from the hospital without completing legal formalities.
