KHA officials swap positions

KARACHI, Nov 19: Gulfaraz Ahmad became the new secretary of the Karachi Hockey Association (KHA) after Jawaid M. Quddusi quit his post to take over as vice-president.

“All is settled and done.

Our president has also approved the change and he (Jawaid) will be our vice-president,” the new secretary said.

KHA officials led by Gulfaraz had revolted against Jawaid saying hockey activity was yet to be revived and the new secretary could play better part in reviving the game.

However, according to Jawaid KHA officials’ were annoyed as had failed to recommend their names for the foreign trips.

KHA officials had blamed Jawaid that it was him because of which four elected Karachi officials were depirved of their right to represent districts at PHF Congress held earlier September.

Jawaid, who was among four who replaced elected representatives, however, acted on the PHF’s instructions which were given to allegedly accommodate favourites and counter any resistance at the PHF elections.
