ISLAMABAD, Nov 19: Chaudhry Pervez Ellahi, a candidate for the post of Punjab chief minister said on Tuesday that the priority of the PML-Q government in Punjab would be to bring social development in the province by eradicating unemployment, creating job opportunities, bringing investment opportunities and giving emphasis to the health and education sectors.

Talking to the reporters here at Parliament House, he said his cabinet would be announced in three phases in which the party’s allies would also be given equal share.

“My emphasis would be to end the police culture in the province by bringing revolutionary steps in the department, strengthening the institutions of District Nazimeen and introducing reforms in the agriculture sector through a new agriculture policy,” he observed.

Outlining his policies, he said linkage would be developed between technical education and requirement of the industries and such an environment would be develop to encourage more investments.

He said that his government would also introduce new industrial zones in the less developed areas of the Punjab, specially in the south.

Imran Khan, chief of the Pakistan Tehrik-i- Insaf said smaller parties had their independent voice in the House saying he saw his future in the opposition and would keep on inviting attention of the House on different issues of national importance.

Hafiz Hussain Ahmad said it was a misconception that the amendments brought by the military government in the form of legal framework order (LFO) should only be deleted through two-thirds majority saying the matter was reverse as it could not be introduced in the Constitution through a two-thirds majority.

He said that there was no role of the army chief in parliament which comprises only the President, National Assembly and the Senate. That was why we have asked the president to resign as army chief, a slot which was junior to the defence secretary.
