After a prolonged delay in terms of media expectations, the first bahu of Indian cinema, Ashwarya Rai Bachchan delivered a baby girl on Nov 16. The media weren’t allowed to go into the hospital where the baby was born, and there was strict security around Ash’s room. Till the time these lines went into print, no picture of the baby was released. Those who have seen the granddaughter of Amitabh and Jaya say the infant has the same blue eyes as her mother. (Don’t know whether it’s a backhanded compliment.)

As soon as the news broke, rumour was rife that Ash underwent surgery. This was put to rest by her father-in-law when he tweeted, a couple of days later, that the delivery was ‘normal’ and the media had got it all wrong.
