KARACHI, Nov 24: Former champions Shahzad Mohammadan (Landhi) went on top of Group ‘A’ when they punished Usmanabad Union for missing chances by beating them 3-2 in the ninth Karachi United Football League (KUFL) 2011-12 at the Korangi Baloch Stadium here on Wednesday evening.

The five-goal thriller saw Shahzad Mohammadan race to a 2-0 lead at half time with goals from Adil Khan (22nd min) and Asghar Baloch (26th min). Usmanabad Union did better in the second half to reduce the deficit to 2-1 through Inayatullah’s 48th-minute goal.

But 12 minutes later, Rasool Bakhsh Lala made it 3-1 for Shahzad Mohammadan.

Usmanabad Union responded with Mohammad Arshad making it 3-2 in the 71st minute.

The game could have gone either way in the final minutes as Usmanabad missed three sure shot chances to equalise as Shahzad Mohammadan’s goalkeeper Naveed Baloch saved the strikers’ every attempt.

Finally, Shahzad Mohammadan held on to a narrow yet exciting 3-2 win. They are now on top of Group ‘A’ with seven points from four games while Usmanabad Union has only one point from as many games.
