ISLAMABAD, Nov 18: A large-scale reshuffle in the bureaucracy is expected after the formation of the new government, a reliable source in the establishment division said.
He said the officials on key posts in all the provinces were likely to be transferred and replaced in the new setup.
The chief secretaries, home secretaries, cabinet secretaries, chief commissioners, inspector generals of Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan and NWFP are likely to be transferred soon, the source said.
He said the former inspector general of Punjab, Jehanzeb Burki, who became an official on special duty (OSD) in the military government, was likely to be posted as IG Punjab again.
Similarly, Chief Commissioner Islamabad Mir Laiq Shah, who earlier served as chief secretary of the NWFP, is likely to assume the old charge.
The source said some 29 officials of grade 20 and above, who were made OSDs after the military takeover, were waiting for their new postings.
Meanwhile, two grade 20 officials of the district management group (DMG) were transferred on Monday.
Chief Census Commissioner (CCC) Lahore Syed Mohammad Hamid has been transferred to Punjab Government. The post of CCC falls under the federal government. However, now, Mr Hamid will be posted by the Punjab Government.
Another 20 grade official of the DMG, serving in Balochistan, has been posted in Punjab.
The Extra Ordinary Leave (EOL) taken by a grade 20 official of the same cadre, Sohail Ahmed, has been cancelled on his request.
The sources said the official was on a one-year EOL, since May 11, 2002, but some days ago he sought the cancellation of the leave and fresh posting.
The plea was accepted, however, he is yet to get the new posting.
