LAHORE: Chief selector Mohsin Khan on Monday attributed Pakistan’s ODI series win against Sri Lanka in the UAE to the players’ mental toughness and fighting spirit besides the nation’s prayers.

Speaking to Dawn from Abu Dhabi, he said: “Though all-rounder Shahid Afridi produced a match-winning performance on Sunday, the entire team showed mental toughness under difficult circumstances to beat Sri Lanka in the fourth ODI and win the series.”

“I know the whole nation is praying for our success and we will keep on doing the hard work to bring better results for Pakistan,” he said.

Showering praise on the leadership skills of skipper Misbah-ul-Haq, Mohsin said: “I have already said that captain Misbah-ul-Haq has done a fine job and is able to bring out the best in the players.”

He also had a word of praise for young wicketkeeper Sarfraz Ahmad for doing a splendid job behind the wickets.
