KARACHI, Nov 18: Several parts of the city continued to face acute water shortage for the sixth consecutive day on Monday.

The hard-hit areas included Hasrat Mohani Colony’s blocks ‘B’ and ‘C’, Pak Colony, parts of Old Golimar, Lyari, PECHS Block 2, and Bahadur Yar Jung Cooperative Housing Society.

Residents of Hasrat Mohani Colony and Pak Colony deplored that although their localities had been almost without water for the last one week, the KWSB officials have not yet taken measures to restore the supply, causing immense hardships to them in Ramazan.

Complaints of persisting water shortage were also received from different sectors of Orangi, Baldia, Surjani, Shershah and the Site industrial area.

According to the residents of Orangi Town, the worst-affected localities were Pakistan Bazaar, Makhdoom Shah Colony (sector 11 1/2), Ghaziabad (sector 16), Aziz Nagar, Ghausia Baloch Colony, sector 15-D’s Thorani Goth, Bangla Bazaar, Sector 14 and Block L of sector 10.

Other localities where water supply remained suspended as part of the KWSB plan to divert Indus water to the localities hooked to Hub dam included Nazimabad, all blocks of North Nazimabad, Federal B. Area, Buffer Zone and Shadman Town.

Water supply to Clifton, Gizri, Delhi Colony, Punjab Colony, Shireen Jinnah Colony, Bhutta Village, Naval Dockyard, NORE-1, GE Army installation, Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, National Institute of Child Health and National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases will remain suspended on Tuesday.
