KARACHI, Nov 17: Former Pakistan batsman Ghulam Ali scored a scintillating 82 off 57 deliveries to help Rafiq Shirazi Memorial Cricket Club (RSMCC) defeat Aga Khan Gymkhana by 48 runs in the Aga Khan Gymkhana Ramazan Cricket Tournament Sunday.

RSMCC’s third victory on the trot at the AKG Ground means they are first team through to the semifinals. Hosts Aga Khan Gymkhana, the defending champions, are virtually out of the tournament since their first game last week was rained off.

Put into bat, RSMCC scored 176 for eight in their 25 overs.

Man-of-the-Match Ghulam Ali led the way with six fours and a brace of sixes while Wasim Naeem contributed 34.

Slow left-armers Fahim Ahmed Sr and Rahim Suleman shared six wickets between them equally, giving away 27 and 32 runs respectively.

Aga Khan Gymkhana, in reply, were sent packing for 128 in 20 overs.

Javed Mansoor, however, excelled with a knock of 51 off 40 balls, which included five hits to the ropes.

Off-spinner Tahir Khan bowled superbly to capture four for 21. Pacer Jawwad Ali also claimed four wickets, for 30 runs.

Summarised scores:

RAFIQ SHIRAZI MEMORIAL CC 176-8 in 25 overs (Ghulam Ali 82, Wasim Naeem 34; Fahim Ahmed Sr 3-27, Rahim Suleman 3-32);

AGA KHAN GYMKHANA 128 in 20 overs (Javed Mansoor 51; Tahir Khan 4-21, Jawwad Ali 4-30).
