Five perish in road accidents

GUJRANWALA, Nov 17: Five people were killed and 24 others injured in separate road accidents in and around the city on Sunday.

A wagon was on its way to Wahando from Kamoki when it collided with a stationary tractor-trolley near Eminabad. Wagon driver Aslam died on the spot while 12 other persons sustained injuries. The injured were taken to hospital.

Ishtiaq of Philoki village was killed and 12 other passengers injured when a bus rammed into a roadside tree on Main Sheikhupura Road. The injured were taken to the DHQ Civil Hospital in critical condition.

Ghulam Mustafa was knocked down by a truck at Rawalpindi Bypass intersection.

A youth, Nawaz, was crushed to death by a coaster near Gondlanwala village on Alipur Chattha Road.

A shopkeeper, Abdul Shakoor, of Theri Sansi was run over and killed by a bus.

DACOITIES: Dacoits looted two houses and some passersby in four strikes here on Sunday.

Five armed men forced their entry into the house of Shaikh Mohammad Munir in Hajipura and fled after collecting Rs120,000 in cash, gold ornaments, prize bonds, wristwatches, electronic goods and valuables.

Four bandits sneaked into the house of Haji Farzand in Abdullahpur and decamped with Rs30,000 in cash, jewellery and valuables.

Five passersby were robbed of cash, wristwatches and valuables by robbers on Alipur Chattha Road. Anwar was deprived of motorcycle by two armed men on Tetley Road.
