KARACHI: Ten aircrafts belong to the Pakistan International Airlines have been grounded due to a lack of supply of equipment, a PIA spokesman stated on Sunday, according to DawnNews.
The spokesman said that PIA's name is being maligned on the basis of some agenda against the national carrier.
A $700 million deal had been made with Transworld Engineering for the supply of the parts needed for the aircrafts. Due to the non-delivery of those parts, the planes had to be grounded as they were not fit for flying. Two Boeing 747s, two Airbus A 310, five Boeing 737s and one ATR are included in the list of grounded planes.
The PIA spokesman claimed that false propaganda has been raised against the PIA and the planes awaiting the equipment are parked in the hanger. An engine for a 747 aircraft has been fixed, which will make the aircraft operational from tomorrow.
