QUETTA, Nov 16: Pakistan Oppressed Nations Movement (Ponam) on Saturday constituted a three-member committee for holding negotiations with other political parties regarding formation of government in Balochistan.
The committee, comprising Balochistan National Party President Sardar Akhtar Mengal, Balochistan National Movement Chairman Dr Abdul Hayee Baloch and Abdul Rahim Mandokhel of Pakhtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party, would also work on the role of the parliamentary bloc formed by component parties of Ponam in the assembly.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the movement, presided over by its acting president, Mehmood Khan Achakzai.
It decided that the committee would prefer to hold talks for the formation of government with parties that believed in the Constitution, supremacy of federal parliamentary system, protection of Balochistan’s interests and rule of democracy and law.
The meeting expressed surprise over the oath taking of Gen Pervez Musharraf for the office of the president and described it violation of the Constitution. It observed that it was an undemocratic decision and condemned it.
It condemned the murder attempt on Zarghoon Town Nazim Abdul Qahar Wadan and demanded that those involved should be arrested immediately.
