LAHORE, Nov 16: An additional district and sessions judge cancelled on Saturday the pre-arrest interim bail of two police officials accused of torturing a youth to death in custody.

Inspector Khalid Mahmood Farooqui and Sub-Inspector Sipra of Nawankot police station had been granted pre-arrest bail by the court last week. Both were supposed to appear before the court on Thursday but they did not.

They have been nominated accused in a case of torturing a youth Falak Sher to death during his detention at the Nawankot police station.

The counsel for the complainant submitted that both the accused did not deserve an extension of the bail since they had abused the law by not appearing before the court.

It was argued that last week an anti-terrorism court had already directed SSP (Investigations) Capt Amin to file the challan of this case by Nov 22. There was fair chance that both the accused would abscond to avoid the investigations.

The court allowed the application of the complainant and directed the guarantors of the two accused police official to appear before it on the next hearing.
