UMERKOT, Nov 5: A large number of people belonging to Oad community held a demonstration near Motoo Malhi bus stop here on Saturday in protest against death in firing by police of a man of their community and injuries to his brother a day ago.

Prof Mir Chand Oad, Sakhar Mal Oad and Umedi, mother of late Jumman Oad who led the protesters said that police constable Mir Chand Oad and Nabi Bux Jarwar killed Jumman who was an innocent labourer. He had no weapon nor was ever involved in crimes, they said.

They demanded exemplary punishment for the policemen.

Police have arrested the constables after registering case against them on a complaint lodged by Reva Chand Oad.

Constables Nabi Bux and Mir Chand signalled Jumman, 25, and Prem, 22, to stop when they neared Motoo Malhi check-post and opened fire when they did not. Jumman died on the spot and Prem fell injured.
