KARACHI, Nov 16: A young housewife committed suicide in her Orangi Town house on Saturday.

Police said Shabana Nasir, resident of Sector-4, Mominabad, Orangi Town, demanded money from her husband, Nasir, to buy clothes for Eid. But the husband expressed his inability to give her money as he was financially hard up.

After this Shabana, mother of an infant, consumed a poison. She was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where she died.

ROAD ACCIDENT: A man died and his brother was injured when they were hit by a recklessly-driven water tanker in Federal B-Area near Power House.

Police said Shahid Hameed, aged 26, and his brother Kashif Hameed, aged 24, were travelling on a motorcycle. As they reached near Power House in FB Area’s Block-19 on Rashid Minhas Road a speeding water tanker knocked them down and sped off. As a result, the two brothers were seriously injured. They were rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced Shahid dead on arrival.

CARJACKING: Thirty-one vehicles — seven cars and 24 motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city on Saturday, police said.

Six cars were hijacked in Ferozabad, Azizabad, Gulbahar and other areas. Another was stolen in Kharadar.

Ten motorcycles were hijacked in Soldier Bazaar, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Azizabad, Baghdadi, Ferozoabad, Korangi and other areas. Fourteen others were stolen in Landhi, PIB Colony, Mithadar, Nabi Bux, New Town, Brigade, Buffer Zone, TPX, Baldia, Joharabad and other areas.

Police also claimed on Saturday to have recovered two stolen cars (JM-9817, ADV-381) and four motorcycles.
