ISLAMABAD: The Senators on Thursday said strong words against privatisation of state run entities and supported the anti-capitalism movement started in different parts of the globe.
PPP stalwart and senior politician Senator Raza Rabbani speaking on a point of order said that the anti-capitalism movement has started in more than 80 countries and more than 1,000 cities of the world.
He said that institutions like the International Monetary Fund (IMF) have been pursuing the policy of privatisation since long which has resulted in economic recession and unemployment in the world.
He said the former government of President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz also tried to implement capitalism in Pakistan, adding that today the country was facing an economic crisis due to this policy of the former government.
He said that the world had rejected the policy of privatisation and it should have to be set aside in Pakistan as well.
Rabbani said that the privatisation of Pakistan Railways, PIA, and Steel Mills or any other government entity would not be allowed. He said the country had a bitter experience of privatisation of KESC therefore such a policy should not be repeated.
Federal Minister for Law Moula Baksh Chandio also stated that privatisation had resulted in economic destruction and unemployment, adding that the PPP had always fought against capitalism and would continue to do so.
Mir Hasil Khan Bazinjo and Zafar Ali Shah also expressed similar remarks and supported the anti-capitalism movement.
