Arms cache seized

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Nov 14: The Customs Intelligence have arrested two arms smugglers and seized a cache of weapons near Yarik at the Dera-Bannu road.

Customs officials had received information about the smuggling bid from Miran Shah to Sargodha via Bannu-Dera road, upon which they intensified the patrolling of the area.

On Tuesday evening a truck, bearing registration number FDG- 1490, was stopped at Yarik, some 22 kilometres from here. On thorough search 40 hand grenades with fuses, 9,500 rounds of 303 bore, 20,000 rounds of 8MM bore, 500 rounds of 555 bore, two rifles of 7.62MM bore and two pistols of 30 bore were recovered from the hidden chambers.

The driver, Anwar Ali, resident of Abad Khel, Bannu, and the conductor, Rahim Khan, resident of Mianwali, were arrested.—Correspondent
