PESHAWAR, Oct 25: Mohammad Akbar Khan Hoti assumed charge as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police here on Tuesday.

Prior to his new appointment he was performing duty as commandant of Frontier Constabulary.

“We must stand up as a team because I alone cannot turn the table and everyone has to contribute to see the force successful in this testing time,” he told police officers after assuming charge.

Mr Hoti paid rich tribute to police for their sacrifices. “In fact we have lost precious police officers and jawans right from the constable to the rank of additional IGP and we must learn from their sacrifices by exhibiting valour, courage and devotion to duty and contribute for betterment of the society,” he said.

Mr Hoti was born on February 8, 1956 in Mardan district. He joined police on September 21, 1981 as ASP after doing BSc and Bachelor of Engineering.

He is the second police officer after Fiaz Toru to have performed duty on every post from ASP to additional inspector general in the province. After completion of basic training of ASP, he was posted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as ASP in Mardan and then in Swat. He performed duty as superintendent police and additional inspector general of police in various districts of the province, including Abbottabad, Bannu, Swabi, Mansehra, Kohat and Hazara.

He also served in FIA on various posts including deputy commandant, director and deputy director.

Mr Hoti also worked as additional inspector general of police (investigation) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He was posted as commandant of Frontier Constabulary On January 24, 2011.

He has completed various trainings and courses in the country and abroad.
