QUETTA, Nov 16: Black day was observed by religious parties on Friday in response to the call given by the Pakistan-Afghan Defence Council against the capture of Kabul and other cities of Afghanistan by the Northern Alliance forces.

Pro-Taliban religious parties hoisted black flags and held a protest public meeting at Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti Cricket Stadium. Jamiat Ulema Islam leader Maulana Noor Mohammad presided over the meeting.

JUI Secretary-General Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri strongly criticized the military government and said that due its wrong polices the Northern Alliance had succeeded in capturing Kabul and other provinces of Afghanistan.

He said that in the present situation Pakistan’s borders with Afghanistan had become insecure while during the Taliban government the borders were completely secure. He said Pakistan would face major problems if Northern Alliance government was formed in Kabul.

Maulana Haideri said United States President Bush was responsible for killing of thousands of innocent Afghans, including women and children. He said history would never forgive the US president.

He announced that the religious parties would continue their protest and struggle until the government was removed.
