SC disposes of Justice Khokhar case

ISLAMABAD, Nov 14: The Supreme Court on Thursday informed the apex court that it had withdrawn the notification, appointing Justice Fakharun Nisa Khokhar, a judge of the Lahore High Court, as the chairperson of the Environmental Tribunal Lahore.

The Supreme Court had taken suo motu notice of the appointment of Justice Khokhar as chairman of the Environment Protection Tribunal and had suspended the notification last Sunday.

On Thursday when a three-judge bench, headed by Chief Justice Shaikh Riaz Ahmad, took up the suo motu case, Sardar Mohammed Aslam, deputy attorney-general, informed the court that the notification had been withdrawn.

The court disposed of the case in the light of statement by the DAG.
