HYDERABAD: Loadshedding deplored

Published November 15, 2002

HYDERABAD, Nov 14: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement has severely criticized Hesco for the power breakdowns in various units of Latifabad during Sehri and Iftar saying that these breakdowns were continuing even during the holy month of Ramazan.

In a joint statement issued on Wednesday, MPAs Arshad Shah, Aslam Pervez and Naeem Ishtiaq said that due to the unscheduled loadshedding the people were facing difficulties in performance of their religious obligations.

They said that if Hesco was to change its attitude, 50 per cent of the people’s problems would be resolved.

WAPDA: A Wapda labour union on Thursday condemned the humiliating attitude of the Hesco’s Phulleli division XEN with the workers.

The leaders of the Pakistan Wapda Hydro Electric Central Labour Union, in a joint statement, said that the corrupt officials of Wapda were using the presidential ordinance of 2000 against the workers.

The central president of the union, Abdul Latif Nizamani, and the provincial leader, Mohammad Iqbal Kaim Khani, accused the officials of using the said ordinance to harass the workers, causing an inordinate increase in the incidence of accidents.—Bureau
