KARACHI: Former legendary squash player Jahangir Khan said that in order to lift squash back to its former glory, the federation should be run by full-time professional people in a sustained systematic way.

“The simple way to lift squash back to its former glory is that it should be run by full-time professional people, who know the sport as opposed to unprofessional and part-timers and the federation setup should be a a sustained system as opposed to ad-hocism,” Jahangir Khan told PPI.

“Squash is a big sport and it has brought great glories for the country therefore it should be given great national importance. And throughout the world, squash is gaining popularity and other federations are putting much in the game.

“Other international federations are run by professionals, which is the difference that we have now been lagged behind,” Jahangir said.

He added that when there is a proper organization with stability and merited people are associated with it then there comes the element of synergy and the efforts of the federation becomes concerted, which is directed towards progress. Right now the members don’t have a say in the affairs, so everything is done in a haphazard way,” Jahangir concluded.
