KARACHI, Nov 13: The supreme council of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal on Wednesday night went into an emergency session here to deliberate upon the outcome of the discussions held with various political parties and government on the future setup in the country.

The meeting of the nine-member executive body, which include six party-heads and three office-holders, was in session at the residence of Maulana Shah Ahmed Noorani, chief of the MMA supreme council.

Before the meeting, when Maulana Fazlur Rahman was asked whether he was still in the prime ministerial race, he said that it was the MMA’s high command that decides in such matters.

He asserted that the LFO was not part of the constitution and it needed the assembly’s endorsement.

Talking to newsmen Ameer Jamaat-i-Islami, Qazi Hussain Ahmed, said, in today’s meeting the leaders would also firm up their future course of action leading to a final decision.

With regards to his meeting with President Musharraf he said that he was there to present MMA’s principled stand.

When asked whether the MMA had reached an agreement with the PML-Q, he replied in the negative.

About his demand that the president should give up his uniform and seek reflection, Qazi said Gen Musharraf had agreed to the premise for the demand, but said, there were difference on the method.
