ISLAMABAD, Oct 17: The British High Commission on Monday organized an event to celebrate women as agents of change ahead of the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting being held in Perth on October 28.

This year the Commonwealth is celebrating women and their ability to transform societies by changing themselves.

In the event, the British High Commissioner, Adam Thompson was joined by Australian High Commissioner, Timothy George and Pakistans Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar.

However, this was one event where they were not the stars but were directing the limelight towards the attendants of the event who were some of the most accomplished women in Pakistan.

British High Commissioner Adam Thompson praised the audience and said that they were a diverse group who had excelled in a variety of fields in Pakistan and were an inspiration, but were a very small representation of all the inspiring women in Pakistan.

In addition to those present, a video was also shown which recognised women like Fehmida Mirza, Baroness Syeda Warsi, Bina Zafar and Zahida Kazmi (Pakistans first woman taxi driver).

The event was a celebration of women who have brought about a positive change through their actions, and it was apparent from the smiles on everyone’s faces that they were happy to be representing women who are agents of change.
