LAHORE, Nov 12: The Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre has launched a one-year diploma course in medical laboratory technology.

The hospital has developed the curriculum of the programme to produce technologists with expertise in clinical pathology, including hematology, blood bank, chemistry and microbiology.

The curriculum, comprising five modules with extensive on-job training, also places emphasis on laboratory management, quality awareness and computer literacy.

Pathologists, willing to take part in at least one research project, will be examined on theoretical and practical aspects.

The hospital laboratory has already been recognized for postgraduate training by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan.
