SUKKUR, Nov 12: A large number of employees of the Pak-Saudi Fertilizer held a protest demonstration outside the Pak-Saudi Fertilizer Factory, Mirpur Mathelo, on Tuesday against the factory’s administration for not paying them their dues.

The protesters were accompanied by the Trade Unionists and activists of various political parties.

Jam Abdul Fateh Samejo, chairman, All Trade Unions Ittehad, Ameen Soomro, President, Pak-Saudi Employees Union, and Mandhal Shar led the demonstration.

The protesters staged a sit-in for about three hours against the factory’s owners who had not paid them their dues despite several assurances. They also blocked the highway for two hours as a result of which traffic was jammed.

The demonstrators expressed their resentment over the recruitment policy of Pak-Saudi as a result of which the local people were being made jobless.

The factory management called a strong contingent of police who requested the protesters to end the blockade.

RESIDENT MANAGER: On this occasion, the resident manager, Pak-Saudi Fertilizer Factory, Umair Ahmed, said that no one had been terminated without cause.

He said that we were trying to appoint local people and no one was being appointed from Punjab.

He said that the Sindhi school had not been closed but it was being upgraded.
