LAHORE, Oct 11: The University of Health Sciences’ syndicate has approved the five-year Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree programme to be introduced in affiliated institutes.

The 28th meeting of the University of Health Sciences syndicate was held here on Tuesday, with vice-chancellor Prof Malik Husain Mubbashar in the chair.

The members were of the opinion that the four-year BSc (Hons) physiotherapy course being offered in eight affiliated institutes must be upgraded to a five-year DPT programme in line with the guidelines issued by the Higher Education Commission.

Currently the course is being offered by the Allama Iqbal Medical College; the Rawalpindi Medical College; the Quaid-i-Azam Medical College, Bahawalpur; the School of Allied Health Sciences; the Children’s Hospital; the ACE Institute of Health Sciences, the FMH College of Medicine and Dentistry, Lahore; the Medical and Dental College; and the Armed Forces Postgraduate Medical Institute, Rawalpindi.
