MIRPURKHAS, Nov 12: About 70 per cent recovery of Abiana has been made in the Nara Canal Area Water Board (NCAWB) under the new system.

This was said by the chairman, Sindh Irrigation Drainage Authority (Sida), Abdul Haq, while talking to newsmen at the office of the director, Nara Canal, on Monday.

He hoped 100 per cent recovery would be completed by the end of the month.

He said there was people’s participation in the new system and added corruption and irregularities would be rooted out.

Haq said 104 farmer organizations had been formed in the Nara Canal area and the target of 163 organizations would be achieved by the end of the year.

The process of forming farmer organizations had also been initiated at the Phuleli Canal (left bank) and the Ghotki Canal, he added.

He said irrigation officers had been deciding about the programme but under the new system, they would prepare proposals which would be approved by the Area Water Board.
