Sell-off progress review today

ISLAMABAD, Nov 12: The Cabinet Committee on Privatization (CCoP) is meeting here on Wednesday to assess the progress of privatization in the country.

The meeting, to be chaired by Finance Minister Shaukat Aziz, will be briefed about the state sector units which had been disinvested. The minister would also be informed about some of the ongoing transactions which were now expected to be taken up by the new elected government.

Informed sources said he meeting would also approve reference price for some of the proposed transactions, including ICP.

The meeting was also expected to discuss as to why some major transactions, including Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) and Karachi Electricity Supply Company (KESC), could not be made.

Privatization Minister Altaf M. Saleem will brief the meeting about the progress that has been achieved during the last three years to disinvest the state sector.
