MINGORA, Nov 11: The local administration has failed to fix the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and overcome the shortage of the gas.

A number of meetings were convened by the administration, police officers and authorities of the district government to fix a reasonable price of the LPG for the retailers, but no decision could be implemented so far.

The retailers are busy in fleecing the consumers with both hands. Once some of the retailers were penalized and sent to jail, but the campaign could not be continued. The agency holders had time and again assured the government of the solution of the problems, but in vain.

A delegation of the retailers on Monday held meetings with district Nazim Dr Mehboob ur Rehman and other officers of police and administration and apprised them of their problems.

A retailer, Fazlur Rehman told this correspondent that a 10 kilogram cylinder of Uni gas was being sold in the market at Rs380, Balochistan gas at Rs375, Burshane at Rs398, etc.

He said that the prices had been increased by the agency holders and not by the retailers, but the administration was teasing the retailers only.

He said another meeting with the officials of the district government would be held in order to fix the rate of the gas.

At present, the gas is rarely found in the markets and that is too at a very high price. The consumers have been complaining against the soaring prices of the gas and demanded of the high ups of the local government to take action against the profiteers.
