Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq believes his team’s whitewash of Zimbabwe will help going into the tough series against Sri Lanka even in the completely different set of conditions in the UAE.

“In cricket it’s all about confidence and that only comes by winning. We won each and every match convincingly and the most important aspect is that each and every player was given an equal chance,” Misbah said.

Sri Lanka recently completed a tough home series against Australia, where the hosts lost the three-match test series 1-0 and the five-match ODI series 3-2.

But Misbah was of view that recent results will count for nothing for both teams and confidence was the only thing they would take forward.

“As a player, you always look ahead when you are confident. I think during the Zimbabwe tour all the players were positive and this will help us in the UAE,” he added.

Pakistan beat Zimbabwe in the one-off Test, clinched the ODI series 3-0 before winning the two Twenty20s to complete the whitewash.
