KARACHI: Mera Iqbal launched

KARACHI, Nov 10: The Sindh Textbook Board (STB), in collaboration with then Educational Resource Development Centre, launched a book ‘Mera Iqbal’ at a local hotel here on Saturday.

Provincial Minister for Finance, Planning & Development, Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, was the chief guest on the occasion.

In his address, he said that the younger generation, particularly children, must study Iqbal whose poetry and ideals were our asset.

The minister said that Iqbal always believed in sublimity of the self, grieved by the degradation of humanity he always struggled for the elevation of man.

“Iqbal’s message is for the Muslims, if we do not understand and follow his message, we shall lag behind other nations in the world”, he said.

Chairman STB Khalid Mehmood Soomro said the STB was prepared to face the challenges of the new millennium and was publishing books for the benefit of the younger generation, particularly children. The compiler of the book, Hasan Shaikh, also spoke on the occasion. Teachers and lovers of Iqbal attended the function in a large number.—PPI
