LOS ANGELES: Two US marines were killed when an attack helicopter crashed during training at a California military base on Monday, a spokesman said.

The AH-1W Cobra went down on training ground at Camp Pendleton south of Los Angeles, said Steven Posy, a spokesman for the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing based there.

Both occupants died at the scene of the crash, which ignited a small brush fire, he added. The cause of the accident was under investigation.
